Girl in Development by Jordan Roter

Samantha Rose isn't happy about her summer plans. Her uncle, a well know entertainment lawyer, has secured her an internship at Authentic Pictures, a movie production company ran by one of her uncle's clients. Sam has always liked movies but being in sunny LA surrounded by the type of people she went to high school with and loathed, makes her wish that her parents had said "No" to the trip. But they didn't and she's stuck spending the summer with her cousin Kate who, when the last time they saw each other, made Sam's visit hell.

Kate Rose has always been the Alpha at her high school. But when she returns home from her first year of college nursing a broken heart from a horrible breakup, hoping to find comfort in her Alpha status, she gets a whopping dose of reality check. Everyone she knows has moved on from the days of high school bliss and are beginning to find their niche in the world. Kate realizes that she doesn't have a "Thing" and with the arrival of her perfect East coast cousin looming over head, she feels even more dejected and un-fabulous than usual.

Girl In Development was really good read. Again it was a bit reminiscent of the A-List Series by Zoey Dean. However, it seemed a bit more serious. The plot on the other hand was a a tiny bit surprising. I didn't expect the girls' relationship to grow as fast as it did and that made for a pretty good page turner. Jordan Roter did a great job portraying Hollywood in a different light. I wonder what she has in store for readers next?

Kiss&Blog by Alyson Noel

Winter and Sloane have been best friends for eight years. So when Sloane brutally and abruptly ends their long term friendship, taking the cheer Winter wrote for their cheer leading tryouts. Needless to say Winter is left sad, hurt and confused. Having no where else to turn she heads to NYC to visit her dad and to "get away from it all", and after a week is sent back home with a new wardrobe, a new boyfriend, and a new out look on life.

But as soon as she sets foot back on her high school campus Winter is struck with the same feelings of hurt and neglect, until she literally bumps into Rey. Rey is the new guy in town who just happens to work at Winter's Mom's Health Food Café. Rey is smart, sweet, talented at art, singing and writing, not to mention incredibly sexy. He also has a blog which gives Winter the idea on how to get over her friendship with Sloane. Hiding behind the name Eleanor Rigby, Winter dishes to all Sloane's secrets and insecurities.

When I first heard about Kiss&Blog last year, I was intrigued until I read the back of the book. I don't know if I interpreted it wrong but the book lost it's appeal to me. So when I decided to read Kiss&Blog I was still a bit skeptical as to what the story would be like. So when I finished reading it I was surprised to find that I actually liked this book. I found Winter a bit ungrateful too the people who really mattered but she was still likable. The story was nice but it seemed like the story of how Mean Girls' Janis and Regina's friendship would've gone done if it was anything like Winter and Sloane's. I give it 3.5 stars

I've Been Tagged???

It took me a while to figure out why Hope tagged me but I get it now so here goes....
The rules of the game:
___
1/ you link back to the person who tagged you.
2/ post these rules on your blog.
3/ share six unimportant things about yourself.
4/ tag six random people at the end of your entry.
5/ let the tagged people know by leaving a comment on their blogs.

Six Unimportant Things About Me

1) I come from a long line of people who have a penchant for anything sweet and nutty.
___
2) My fear of creepy crawlies started immediately after my fifth grade class completed the section of Pests and Parasites for Life Science and got worse when a horse spider (see image here) ran over my feet as I entered the kitchen of my old house one traumatic night I'll never forget.
___
3) I've moved approximately ten times in my life. The first half I can barely remember.

4) I love getting lost. It's so much fun to try and find your way back.
___
5) I love snickers but not snicker doodles. Snicker Doodles don't taste like snickers which is a gyp as far as I'm concerned.
___
6) My initials are T.B. which is the abbreviation for Tuberculosis which is, at times, my nickname.

Now for the most difficult task...
___
The People I've Tagged:
___
That was Fun.

Poseur by Rachel Maude

Four Girls.
Four Very Different Worlds.
One Love for Fashion.

The Girls:
Janie Farrish: The daughter of a caterer and twin sister of Josh. Knows all the best places to get vintage clothing. Loves to draw her own designs. And hopes to make a fresh start at the popularity game at Winston Prep and finally ditch her horrible nickname "Pompidou" like a ruined pair of Miu Miu Black Silk Platform Pumps that she'll never own.

Charlotte Beverwil: Daughter of the two most influential people in Hollywood. Loves all things French, Wishes her parents were from France. In love Josh Farrish. Gave Janie that nasty name "Pompidou". Loves to sew. Wants Janie to like her so her relationship with Josh can move forward.

Melissa Moon: Daughter of the Hottest rapper at the moment. Hates her soon- to-be step-whatever. Misses her mom. Thinks it's ALL 'bout her. Loves her little Pomeranian pooch more that anything in the world. LOVES to shop.

Petra Green: Hates her parents especially her dad. Loves her adopted sisters. Hates the way everyone is obsessed with beauty especially hers. Would rather burn the latest copy of Vogue than read it. Wants to start a fashion label that stand against ALL things mainstream.

All worlds clash when their are forced to take a class together. They decide to make a label combining all their different fashion styles. Janie's rocker/punk/goth style, Charlotte's High-end Couture style, Mellisa's urban/ghetto glam style and Pietra's hippie/bohemian chique style are combined with disastrous results. Can they get their act together or will they fall flat faster that fine hair on a humid day.

I'm not a fashion savvy person. I can't tell my Fendi from my Prada or spot the difference between Gucci and Juicy Couture, All I know is that it's cute and I like it. With that said I was really looking forward to reading this book. Not because I wanted a lesson in fashion or anything like that. The plot just happened to be interesting enough to catch my attention. Four very different girls with four extremely different fashion styles come together to form a fashion label. Doesn't that sound just a dash interesting to you? Well, Poseur had the appeal of the latest in teen fiction: Gossip Girl, The A-List and The It Girl, and the hopes of a strong bond of friendship between girls of completely different classes -- like Massie and Claire from The Clique Series. I stayed up all night reading this book and was sad to see it end.

Stray by Rachel Vincent

Faythe Sanders isn't all what she seems. Even though she may look like an All-American girl and has been raised by an All-American family, It's all just an illusion for what's really going on. The Sanders family and almost all who are closing associated with them are Werecats. Faythe's dad is the Alpha of their territory and unknown to everyone but her, has been training her for the role ever since the first time she shifted successfully into her feline counterpart. But Faythe wants nothing to do with the life she knows is in store for her. She wants to go to college and like her second oldest brother Ryan be free of the life she leads.

She does get a small part of her wish, and has completed her four years of college and is about to start grad school. But just moments after she survives an attack by a foreign stray werecat she is drag home for her protection. She soon discovers that her attack isn't the reason she's back home; her best friend Sara, the only daughter of another Alpha of the neighboring territory has been abducted. And there have also been reports of human girls being raped and mauled to death. Faythe is shocked and disgusted by the acts of the foreign strays. But when she is abducted herself she is forced to fight of her life and the life of the current and future victims.

I absolutely LOVED this book. It was one part horror and one part suspense. After reading this I felt sad because of what happened to the girls who died and the way they died and the emotional trauma they endured. But it was so exciting the things that happened in this book. Faythe is an awesome heroine flawed but really cool. Rachel Vincent did a great job. This book earns the book Brat;s seal of approval. I can't wait for the sequel Rogue to be released.

Love, Hollywood Style by P.J. Ruditis

Tracy Vance's parents are the most romantic couple ever to walk the earth. There even was a movie optioned to be made about their love life. This has never bothered Tracy but on the eve of her depart for college she decides to have the most romantic summer ever. And what better place to start her romantic summer than at her job at Sovereign Studios one of the many Movie/TV studios in Hollywood, California. But to do this she's gonna have to find the perfect guy.

Enter Connor, one of the newest employees of Sovereign Studios and the perfect guy for Tracy's summer of ultimate romance. He's smart, sweet and uber adventurous, but he also has no clue that Tracy's into him. That's where Christy Caldwell comes in. Christy is the latest up and coming superstars of the moment and thanks to her Tracy's got the perfect formula to not only get Connor's attention but to also have her romantic summer:
  • Girls meets boy.
  • Girl loses boy.
  • Girl tries to get him back.
  • Succeeds.
  • They live happily ever after...at least until the sequel.

Now with a little help from her friend Dex (aka the most romantic guy ever) she's on her way to having the greatest time of her life...she hopes.

Love, Hollywood Style was a bit predictable not because the formula of the book was laid out but because I kind of figured what would go down. But it was an OK book nonetheless. P.J. Ruditis did an OK job with the story. Needles to say this book wasn't one of my absolute faves but I kind of enjoyed it despite my lack of enthusiasm.

The Secret Life of a Teenage Siren by Wendy Toliver

For years Roxy has always considered herself to be somewhat of an ugly duckling. But on her sixteenth birthday she'd be getting the best present yet...ultimate beauty. At first when her grandmother told her she was a siren Roxy thought the her Grandma was a touch crazy in the head but how else do you explain her sudden change in her looks and the way she plays the flute. But there is one little glitch Roxy cannot tell any one the reason behind her sudden change in looks or she'll lose both her looks and her talent to play the flute.

But this doesn't phase her. Sure she can get her heart's desire with the flick of her hair or a few notes on her flute, But the only thing she wants besides a glamorous summer job that pays well and a change in wardrobe is the attention of Zack Parker, the most popular boy in school. But in her attempt to gain the approval of one boy she loses the approval of her best friend Natalie and the unwanted attention of Eva "The Diva" Nelson the on-again-of-again girlfriend (currently off) of Zack. But being Zack's girlfriend isn't all what it's cracked up to be. So now she has to find a way to make everything right again before the new school year starts and to do that she's gonna need the help of the people she's hurt the most.

I'm a sucker for all things supernatural so I couldn't help but go crazy over this book. So I'm really, really happy to say that I loved reading this book it was everything a romantic comedy should be. Roxy was a fun character, the plot was predictable like all the other Simon Romantic Comedies books but that didn't take anything away from the book. Wendy Toliver did a good job writing this story and I can't wait to read whatever else she has in store for us.
